mass these days can be mildly amusing for me. case in point: a couple months back when i was at st. thomas aquinas in charlottesville, i coincidentally sat behind this same couple two or three weeks consecutively. the first time, husband complemented my singing as they exited the pews, and the second or third time asked whether i'd had any professional training, and then whether i'd be willing to sing at his son's (or daughter's?) wedding..that was quite the surprise, hahah. more recently (since i haven't been in cville for a while due to some blargh circumstances), i managed to sit next to this ever so slightly-tonedeaf old lady while at st. mary's, who seemed to notice my singing and try to match me..and then complemented me afterwards, calling my voice "angelic," or something with similarly religious undertones.
singing's a fun thing for me that i do in my spare time, which my dad actually has formal training in, unlike me (though my mother enjoys doing it, as well)..so it always makes me smile a little to myself when someone happens to notice and makes mention. regardless, it's pretty easy to notice a tall asian standing out in a crowd of..well, non-asians, hahah. but hey, who knows..maybe my little les mis stint back in my senior year of hs is a springboard—not to mention i happened to answer the door to valjean the other day, on a summer job route of his. how random..
my sister sent me a link today to this peculiar thing called the shovelglove. don't know how much i want to go out and grab a sledgehammer (tall people + 8' ceilings + swinging sledgehammers = not good)..but i might try adding some of the motions to my haphazard workouts. three weeks until convention!..fortunately for me, i don't see myself going to any beaches anytime soon. pools though, maybe..gotta love showing off all the scars.
